Is there an app?
This was the single most frequently asked question when we started tippl...
Have you ever had to pay for parking using an app?

Here's how it goes:
- You're keen to get on with something fun.
- First you have to download and install an app. No doubt the connection is dodgy, and this takes an age...
- The app asks for lots of invasive and unnecessary permissions.
- You're asked to sign up and create an account.
- Next they want a whole load of personal details — probably so they can target adverts at you and send you spam.
- Finally, you can pay, and move on with your life.
...then next time you're parking somewhere else, you have to use a different app and you have to go through the whole tedious process again!
We hate this. With tippl we wanted to create a better customer experience...
A better way
Everyone has a web browser. Sure, that doesn't sound as exciting as an "app", but it's a whole lot more convenient. With tippl:
- There's no need to download or install an app.
- There's no need to sign up to pay a tip.
A first-time user can pay a gratuity in less than 10 seconds. People have better things to be doing with their lives than signing up for cumbersome apps!
Lower costs
Developing and maintaining an app costs money. In fact, it costs money twice: you need an app for Android and one for Apple. Next time you use an app, think who's paying for the development costs? (One way or another, it's you!)
Tipping shouldn't be expensive. We wanted to make tippl as low cost as possible. Developing a single platform is one way we have kept costs (and prices) down.
What about security?
Anyone who tells you that apps are more or less secure than the alternative is bullshitting you. The truth is, it depends.
A full treatment of the topic is out of scope for this post (and dull!). When it comes to tippl here's what you need to know:
- We don't handle your credit card details at all.
- Payments are made through a global payments infrastructure company who are certified to the highest level available in the payments industry.
- We use modern security technologies to make your browsing session secure.
Conclusion
Apps may be cool, but they're not always the best solution. There is no tippl app. This makes paying a cashless tip quicker, simpler, and cheaper.
Tippl. Cashless tipping, made simple.
